Ghee cake

Yummy on the palate..easy on the tummy..

Yet again a cake that I made on order for a small tea party. This is a lighter version of the pound cake which is made with loads of butter. This also makes a very good base for a cream cake.

Ghee cake recipe

Ingredients:

(1 cup – 250 ml.) 

  • All purpose flour – 1 1/4 cup 
  • Ghee – 1/2 cup
  • Caster Sugar – 1 cup
  • Milk – 1/3 cup
  • Egg – 2 Nos.
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp.
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp.
  • Salt – 1 pinch

Method:

  • Mix the flour, baking powder n salt and keep aside. 
  • Take a mixing bowl and whip together ghee and sugar till well combined. 
  • Add one egg at a time with vanilla essence and whip till creamy.
  • Now slowly add in flour and milk, little at a time and continue whipping. 
  • Give a final fold to the cake mix and pour into a greased and dusted loaf tin.
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 40-45 mins. / till the cake appears golden and well done.
